Amadeus fans rejoice!  To celebrate the 260th year of Mozart's birth, Decca and Deutsche Grammophon combined their considerable resources and archives to release the most-complete-to-date catalog of Mozart's works and fragments.  The 200-CD deluxe box set will retail for $479 and will feature 5 hours of new music specially commissioned for this new Edition.  25 CDs will be dedicated to alternative versions of key works, and 5 CDs will feature legendary and historic performances.  Also included is the miniature version of the New Kochel Catalogue, updated for 2016.

It's been a quarter-century since Philips Classics released their Complete Mozart Edition back in 1991 (the bicentennial of Mozart's death), so this new Edition from DG and Decca is a most welcome and long-overdue update.
